Well, October is Self Promotion Month. And who am I to pass up an opportunity to talk about my favorite subject? Me!

1. Who are you?

My online and pen name is Zaehlas. In real life I go by Matthew. I work with computers, programming and electronics and am currently active duty military in the United States Navy.

Besides that I enjoy cartoons, gaming, comics, and generally all-around "kid" stuff. Maybe because I never grew up, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

2. What is your artistic passion?

Writing. I've done a little bit of drawing, and opened up into computer coloring and stuff like that, but I don't have the patience for it. I need to work more on it, because I can barely do stick figures, but, if I don't put the energy into it, I'll probably never get better. That's a battle I have to do with myself.

The two really large passions in my life are reading and writing. I love to do both. And it scared me once I started writing what my mind has come up with, even though I don't have the stubborness to truly write at a speed I know I can.

3. Why did you get into art?

If I consider my art writing (and I kinda have to, to be proud of myself), then it's more like the "art got into me". Ideas would pop into my head, latch on with these huge fangs, and not let go. I couldn't do anything till I wrote it down, and let other people see it. And the ideas still knaw at me, but writing another chapter gets them to take it easy on me for a while. Too bad real life makes everything take a long time, heh.

4. How do you inspire yourself?

I wish I knew. If a few cases, I think talking to some close friends and families has given me ideas in different directions, and reviews and comments have always helped. Beyond that, the stories in my head have a life of their own. If I could say "I drank a red bull, and I wrote this chapter", I'd take stock in red bull. Too bad it doesn't work that way.

5. Where would you like to see yourself in 5 years.

Well, I got an idea for this original novel / series (see above link), and now, I really would like to see myself as a true published author in 5 years. That would make me totally giddy.

I wanted to get a new journal entry up. I don't do this often enough, heh.

Anyway, for those of you that noticed I have a new submission and new poll. The is a project that's been banging around in my head for a little bit, so I decided to post a tiny bit, and see what the response would be like. If you get a chance to read, it's pretty short.



Anyway, I wanted to focus on original fiction, rather than fanfiction for once. My main fears is that either it's almost exactly like another story out there, or that if fits a genre that's overused too much. I don't think it does on either count, however, as well read as I am, there's TONS of stuff out there I havn't read, so I thought I'd get opinions from an audience. And I appreciate the dA audience more than any other I have access to!
